If we are not willing to wait for the facts and wish to decide based on rumor and hearsay, we are not serious about fixing anything.

From School police chief Arredondo speaks by Neo.  A useful reminder that we still do not have much firm knowledge as to the sequence, timing and actions at the Uvalde tragedy.

First reports were garbled and contradictory.  Usually it takes 3-10 days for the story to firm up so that we can understand what happened, why, by whom, to whom, etc.

I quit paying close attention about a week after the tragedy because news reports were still very substantially contradicting one another.  I suspect we will get a clear picture at some point but until then the human desire for understanding and justice must wait.  If we don't know what happened in detail, we don't know what systems and which individuals might have failed in a fashion that might have allowed the tragedy to occur or allowed it to be worse than it had to be.

If we are not willing to wait for the facts and wish to decide based on rumor and hearsay, we are not serious about fixing anything.
