If I can't take you with me
by Heather Stewart

Since I can remember, you're all I know
From the summers through winters, through laughter and woe
Well my memory's fading and my heart it beats slow
But if I can't take you with me, then I just won't go.

Every step of my life, I've walked them with you
As it comes to end, there's one left to do
We all face the river and cross it alone
But if I can't take you with me, then I just won't go.

Seems I've spent my whole life, with not much to show
But the love I have for you, that continues to grow
Well the sun is setting and the wind she won't blow
and if I can't take you with me, then I just won't go

Every step of my life, I've walked them with you
As it comes to end, there's one left to do
We all face the river, and cross it alone
But if I can't take you with me, then I just won't go.
