Confounding categories

I have been banging on about the centrality of Age of Enlightenment and the radical nature of the Classical Liberal and how Marxism and all its offshoots such as Social Justice, Intersectionality, Critical Race Theory, Socialism, etc. are mere guises for the ancient state of man - totalitarian authoritarianism.  The atavistic desire to control others in contrast to the Classical Liberal aspiration that everyone should be free and equal before the law and all governed by the law.

I am not sure I have seen a clearer articulation of this than in the following video discussion via The Spectator between Douglas Murray and Julie Bindel, What is the Point of Pride?

One could view this through biological determinism lenses of Gay Man and Lesbian Woman.  Or one might view this through the ideological determinism lenses of Left versus Right.

And it is not deterministic at all.  It is two Classical Liberals appalled at the reemergence of authoritarianism in yet another new guise.  A guise which foolish people are clustering around as a shiny social bauble.  Up until that point when the authoritarianism becomes transparent, as is increasingly happening.

All enterprises and institutions need to do is commit to the fundamentals of Classical Liberalism, serve their customers, and be the best at what they do.  Instead they try out the roll of Classical Rent Seekers, trying to get something for nothing via the authoritarianism of postmodernist fads such as Pride.

An entertaining discussion with barbs alongside the principled points.  Despite being British and despite being L and G, I would wager the discussion would be well received in most conservative circles.  Principally because Classical Liberalism is still wonderfully popular except among political parties, especially political parties of the Left.
