At the bottom of North hill in Colchester in Essex, unnoticed by most passers by is a chunk of Roman wall sandwiched between two buildings. It’s all that remains of North gate, one of 6 gates that entered the Roman city. The gate was demolished in 1823 to allow for traffic. 1/2 pic.twitter.com/qkynupQ3iy
