Most of the collects in the BCP are translations by Cranmer of Latin collects that had already been used in the church for at least 7 centuries. But the one for Advent 3 was newly composed for the 1662 BCP, and it interweaves the epistle and gospel: pic.twitter.com/LWfvuZv2gL
