A useful review of Don't Trust Your Gut by Seth Stephens-Davidowitz. The review is from Infovores.
Seth Stephens-Davidowitz:
The predominant way that many people deal with these effects is by whining. “Life is so unfair! That work isn’t actually better than mine.” Normally, I am all in favor of whining—and consider it my predominant coping mechanism for adult life. However, I must admit that the data definitively overrules the justification for whining. Scientists have uncovered patterns of people who tend to succeed as artists, those who have found ways to make the randomness in artistic success work for them.
Yep. Almost all those who might be characterized as woke and large portion of those of the empathetic left seem to fall into the category of whiners, The Woke tautologically and the rest de facto.
Stephens-Davidowitz identifies three strategies for success.
- Operate in many markets (make sure what you produced is seen across various silos)
- Produce a lot
- Don't self-limit (don't let your own perfectionism get in the way)
All true and all true for anyone in any field.
Looks like an interesting book.
