Love this. Not sure why I all of sudden keep coming across Eastern European folk songs but I am enjoying them.
Love the scenery (lowering clouds), the folk costume, the instruments, the singing. How pleasantly refreshing without understanding a single word.
This is from Latvia, a folk song, Novēlam lustīgi nosvinēt Jāņus!.
This song is praising oak trees - one of the symbols of musculinity in Latvian folklore. During the summer solstice (Jāņi) men (especially those named Jānis) will wear crowns made from oak leaves. The lyrics are about how mighty, powerful and old the oak tree is.
