One of the reasons I remain on Twitter is that it provides access to a huge range of sources and research. You have to actively work hard to cull out all twitter accounts which routinely feel compelled to push ideological commentary but that poison is offset by the access to scholars and creators far and wide.
Regrettably, Twitter can be a hostile environment for fact based beliefs or methodologically sound research.
For instance:
We are glad that our paper on Frontier Culture is receiving attention outside economics, but based on the comments here it is clear we need to make some clarifications. Thread [1/12] https://t.co/rPQjclg7gh
— Martin Fiszbein (@MartinFiszbein) September 16, 2020
As quickly manifests in the thread, critics did not read the paper but inferred conclusions which were not reached or assumed objectives which were not part of the research.
It is a pity the ignorant hostility is so prevalent, but how wonderful to wake each day to new scholars doing interesting work.
