From "Is California headed for a right-wing backlash? This question has hovered over the state’s politics for years now..." at Ann Althouse.  It is not apparent that they are yet willing to wean themselves from voting for the politicians who keep implementing policies which everyone hates.  I would not hold my breath for a back-lash, but you never know for certain.

There is a discussion about California's unique capacity for spending inordinate amounts of money on services to the homeless.  One commenter has a pithy formulation which is not self-evidently wrong.
