A very good thread on The Tale of Sinuhe with an interpretation I have not seen before but which is fascinating.
Almost 4,000 years ago an Egyptian civil servant, worried for his life, fled north and found himself in the land inhabited by strange and violent cattle herders. This is the tale of Sinuhe and his experience of Indo-European warrior culture. [THREAD] pic.twitter.com/8ubB6UYPEV

Mer-rekh contrasts the warrior/hero culture of the Retjenu people Sinuhe encounters in Lebanon, a people of Indo-European origin Homeric era, with that of Egypt itself.
Sinuhe adapts to the warrior/hero culture with all its continuing trials, discord and disruption and is very successful. Ultimately though, his overwhelming desire is to return to the stability and predictability of pharaonic Egypt where submission is all that is required for the good life of a scribe.
Very interesting read.
