An early example of mass formation psychosis.  From Ghostbusters in 1984.  Given this example of successful mass formation psychosis in the popular movie, is it a coincident that the mainstream media news circulation peaked in 1984?  In other words, having peaked, did they promptly adopt panic porn as their new business model because it featured in Ghostbusters?  Nah. . . just a coincidence.
