Filmed in 1938-9 by Thomas W. Wells. I have always been fascinated by the sailing era and grew up on stories of the great age of sail right down to the very end with the Last Grain Race by Eric Newby and By Way of Cape Horn by Alan Villiers. Amazing times, technology and men. A brutal age by our current times, merely the norm a hundred years ago.
This is amazing archival footage of perhaps the last grain race before the onset of World War II. This is from the voyage of the Passat.
