University credentialed idiots who know literally nothing

One of Twitter's more irritating "innovations" has been to flag those articles which they consider disinformation or misinformation.  The fact that Twitters staffers are both the Rhodesian* proverbial know nothings, are disproportionately left wing in their world view, live in epistemic bubbles, and are authoritarian in their behaviors very much warps their efforts at curbing disinformation or misinformation given their failure to mistake alternative opinions and alternative facts.

When they think you are about to retweet something with disinformation or misinformation, they flag it with this annoying reminder.

I am still not clear whether I dislike it for its simple-minded childishness, its denial of my personal agency, or because it is so disruptive of information gathering and dissemination.

Their habit is to use these warnings whenever new data or information is surfaced which contradicts leftist or Democratic Party narratives.  Anything Trump says, just about anything contesting Anthropogenic Global Warming, anything reporting on the successes of the Swedish model for addressing corona virus, anything to do with Hunter Biden's laptop(s) and his corruption, just about anything to do with cultural differences between groups, etc.

They never use these warnings when some mainstream media outlet such as the New York Times or Washington Post, as they frequently have to do, issue corrections or updates to reverse the tendentious conclusion they were drawing in "reporting" based on an event and got their facts all wrong.

But from a sheer meaninglessness and six sigma effrontery perspective, dosed with unintended humor, there is the issue of what they consider to be misinformation and disinformation.  For example, this looked interesting:

Retweeting this to look at later, I get the brain-dead

What is the disinformation or misinformation they are concerned about?  That a replica viking ship did not bring down the power line in a Scottish village?  Or, perhaps, they are concerned with reinforcing the retrograde and racist view that Britons descended from Vikings are prone to pillaging and destruction?

Who knows.  They are presumably university credentialed idiots who know literally nothing.

*From The Aspiring Novelist Who Became Obama’s Foreign-Policy Guru by David Samuels

“All these newspapers used to have foreign bureaus,” he said. “Now they don’t. They call us to explain to them what’s happening in Moscow and Cairo. Most of the outlets are reporting on world events from Washington. The average reporter we talk to is 27 years old, and their only reporting experience consists of being around political campaigns. That’s a sea change. They literally know nothing.”
