It should be alarming. It is at least indicative.

I prefer the term Mandarin Class (politicians, government agencies, universities, mainstream media) to the term Elites as being more accurate.  They are in very few instances elite, they are in institutionally protected positions where they have the capacity to influence the lives of Americans with little accountability.

But there is blowback and the pendulum, I think, is beginning to swing back from far left ideological mono-mania towards more real world Classical Liberal realism.  I hope.

The gap between the worldview of the Mandarin Class and the average American is pretty large and seen in many debates.

Oddly, one of the most obvious and blatant instances recently has been in the movie reviews of a documentary produced by Disney of the divisive health advisor, Fauci.  Released in October, it seemingly attracted a lot of positive reviews.  Seemingly.

Then people noticed, on the movie reviewing site Rotten Tomatoes, that actual reviews by the public were being hidden.  Only the results from the Mandarin Class mainstream media reviewers were reported, with a 91% approval rating.

Why was that?  After a barrage of shaming tweets and other social media criticism, the public reviews were turned on and it became obvious why they had been hidden.

As of today, October 21, 2021, the Mandarin Class rating remains high at 90%.  The American public rating though?  2%.

Casting an eye over the respective reviews, basically the public seems to be saying that this is a well shot and smooth documentary and it is entirely propaganda, that there is nothing to be learned about the man and the controversies swirling around him.

But he is a leading member of the Mandarin Class and the Mandarin Class journalists are there for him.  Or at least 90% of them are.  He is defended by his fellow Mandarins.

And the public sees through it and distrusts journalists and our old favorite institutions less and less.

That gap between 90% and 2% should be alarming.  It is at least indicative.

UPDATE:  No sooner do I post than I see this new revelation.
