During the Roman siege of Hatra in 198 the defenders threw clay pots filled with death-stalker scorpions down upon the attacking soldiers. The pots shattered on impact, panicking the Romans as the scorpions crawled over them. The Romans withdrew from the siege and never returned. pic.twitter.com/01UQpmqSDA
