Private Major Groom

Christine Bibb who married Major Groom (the name Major here does not signify a military title; it is his given name), was the maternal ancestor of a large number of descendents. Major Groom was a private soldier in the Revolutionary War and was present at the surrender of Cornwallis at York town. In 1817 Major and Christine Groom moved to Kentucky and settled in Caldwell County. Mr. Littleton Groom, Brooklyn, R.Y. is a direct descendant of this family of Grooms.
