Unravelling - I don't think that word means what you think that word means

It feels sort of petty but when people trade on their credentials, I think it only fair to see how those credentials correlate to real world quality. Here is Robin Wright, about as credentialed a gilded charlatan as there is:
Wright has reported from more than 140 countries on six continents for The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, The Atlantic, The Sunday Times of London, Foreign Affairs, CBS News, The Christian Science Monitor, and others. Her foreign tours include the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and as a roving foreign correspondent in Latin America and Asia. She most recently covered U.S. foreign policy for The Washington Post.

Wright has also been a fellow at Yale, Duke, Stanford, Dartmouth, the U.S. Institute of Peace, the Smithsonian's Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, the Brookings Institution's Saban Center for Middle East Policy, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the University of California at Santa Barbara, and the University of Southern California.
The implication being that with credentials like that, she knows how the world works, right?

And here are two headlines for her deep insight reporting this week. From Monday January 6th.

And today, Wednesday January 8th.

To be fair, and taking a page from Solon, count no episode concluded till long afterwards. But as with the non-existent explosion of the Arab street when the embassy was moved to Jerusalem, the non-existent Kurdish genocide after American troops in Syria were relocated, and the non-existent conflagration of the Middle East into war upon election of Donal Trump, none of the expert forecasts have come true.

Maybe it is just a matter of time. But the more time elapses between Trump's "blunders" and the non-emergence of the tragic outcomes forecast by the gilded charlatans, the more we need to consider that the gilded charlatans don't know what they are talking about.
