A legitimately striking observation of little obvious significance

One of those snarky kind of observations which you also cannot completely dismiss.

This is almost completely a product of small numbers.

But . . .

It is unavoidably striking. And look at those three - Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and Ben Carson. Like or oppose their policies, they certainly have striking accomplishments behind them (except perhaps Rubio). Accomplishments beyond the realm of politics. Carson was the youngest chief of pediatric neurosurgery in the country at age 33, a director of pediatric neurosurgery at one of our most prestigious and selective medical institutions. Pioneer of new neurological surgical techniques, author of more than a 100 neurology papers, author of ten books. Cruz was cum laude Princeton, magna cum laude Harvard Law, Harvard Law Review editor, clerk for the Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court.

What are the comparable non-political accomplishments for those who have so far fallen from the Democratic field? Cory Booker? Julian Castro? Deval Patrick? Kamala Harris? Cory Booker was a Rhodes Scholar and Deval was cum laude undergrad and JD at Harvard though only passing the bar exam on his third attempt. Carson/Cruz would easily take Booker/Deval on a non-political accomplishments contest.

I don't think there is anything to be concluded from the happenstance of these two lists of six. But snarky as it is, it is a legitimately striking observation even if it has little obvious significance.
