Handshakes through time

This is a relief of the Peace Agreement between the Assyrian King Shalmaneser III (on the right) who is receiving the King of Babylon, Marduk Zakir Shumi (on the left).  The scene is from the 8th Century BC and from front panel of the Throne Dais of Shalmaneser III at the Iraq Museum.  

I wonder if there is an earlier representation of the apparently universal human custom of the handshake as a greeting?  I wonder if there is an historical origin date or whether it predates history?
