From lab leak to early treatment, and from transmission to lockdowns, the Lancet was always there to make some absolutely understandable errors, but always in the same direction.

In the US, our public health officials were wrong to mandate masks, insist on lockdowns, deny seasonality, deny natural immunity, and unwise to rush vaccine testing. They were also both unwise and ineffective at devising the necessary measurement mechanisms to understand the threats, risks and consequences of a new virus.
It is little consolation that our public health experts were not alone in being so comprehensively and consistently wrong about just about everything.
