But the real threat here is not just mangled logic. It’s the erasure of the possibility of equality, of a common humanity, that requires we treat each other as equals before God and before the law.

A Classical Liberal argument against the racism, authoritarianism and malevolence of Social Justice Theory and Critical Race Theory.  From The Warped Vision of “Anti-Racism” by Batya Ungar-Sargon.  It is a well presented argument already well stablished among Classical Liberals.

But the real threat here is not just mangled logic. It’s the erasure of the possibility of equality, of a common humanity, that requires we treat each other as equals before God and before the law. Today’s progressive left, whose ideas have become prevalent in much of the American establishment that is now repeating its incantations, simply does not believe equality is possible, instead differentiating people by how much power they supposedly have, with no common humanity to call upon.

While a good articulation of many important points in the Classical Liberal world view and the tortuous logic of the Hegelian world view and its progeny such as Social Justice and Critical Race Theory, what was astonishing to me was the source of this freedom oriented argument.

Batya Ungar-Sargon is the deputy opinion editor of Newsweek. Her book Bad News: How Woke Media Is Undermining Democracy comes out in October.

A journalist in the legacy mainstream media is making an argument for the Classical Liberal world view? Granted, Newsweek, is a fringe shadow of its old self but still, it is unexpected.  And wouldn't it be delightful if these old remnant husks were to revive and become the champions of freedom and tap into the great mass of Americans who are mostly the children and defenders of the Classical Liberal world view.
