An Insight

One of the central insights documented by Charles Murray in Coming Apart.  The norms, values and behaviors espoused by the Mandarin Class are the exact opposite of those which they practice themselves. Practicing self-control, hard work, pursuit of education, prioritization of family and marriage, aversion to divorce, persistence through hard times, etc. - all are observable among the Mandarin Class but disavowed by them when recommending how others ought to live their lives.
