The sharp wind was almost autumnal in its shrewishness

From The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie. A Hercule Poirot mystery. Indeed, the first in a long line. Written in 1916, it was published in 1920.

I am enjoying it. I have tried Christie again and again over the years and she has never taken with me. Though as I think about it, perhaps most of my tries were her other character, Miss Marple.

Loved this description.
The weather had broken, and the sharp wind was almost autumnal in its shrewishness.
