The NPR world is a bleak world without joy

I am not convinced that NPR understands Christmas and the Christmas spirit. As I get out and around, ornaments and decorations are everywhere, people's colorful trees can be seen twinkling through their windows in the evening. There is good cheer among people, passing pleasant conversations. It feels so convivial.

Then I get in the car where I have the radio always set to NPR. The last three segments were:
A woman recounting her experience of years of childhood sexual abuse.

A professor discussing how America was irredeemably founded in racism.

A lesbian singer recounting her childhood in a dysfunctional rural family and in particular discovering her mother right after her mother's suicide attempt with a razor.
The NPR world is a bleak world without joy, forgiveness or redemption. I am sorry for them.

If the social justice Christmas has no place for the Christmas spirit, humanity, and joy, I want nothing to do with it.

UPDATE: OK. Let's add NYT to the list. NPR and The New York Times really don't understand Christmas or the Christmas spirit. Evidence for this wild accusation against The New York Times? Would Human Extinction Be a Tragedy?by Todd May.
