The English boarding school I attended in the mid seventies was based at an old Manor house: Herringswell Manor School. It had architectural elements ranging from a 12th century flint wall all the way up to a Victorian water tower, now a listed structure.

In googling something about the school's history, I come across what has to be one of the most English websites conceivable. The British Water Tower Appreciation Society. That says it all. British. Water Tower. Appreciation. Society.
Hate the weather, but love England for its quintessential Englishness.
