Last year, more people voted on PornHub videos than in the United States Presidential election

Insights into the human condition come from the most unexpected places. In this instance: PornHub saw increase in traffic from Hawaii after the ballistic missile threat was declared false by Matthew Dunn.
RESIDENTS in Hawaii received a text message alert at 8.07am on Saturday stating that a ballistic missile was headed towards the island but were quickly notified it was a false alarm.

So what did the people of Hawaii do to celebrate their new lease on life?

Rushed to PornHub to let off some steam.

It might sound strange, but PornHub’s analytics team discovered a huge spike in traffic in the minutes after it was revealed the incoming ballistic missile warning was false.

In fact, the adult website said traffic increased in Hawaii by almost 50 per cent more than what is seen on a regular Saturday.

“Based on real-time, per-minute page views, and compared to levels on the previous two Saturdays, our statisticians found a precipitous drop in traffic at 8:07am immediately after the warning was sent out,” PornHub explained.

“By 8.23am, traffic was a massive -77 per cent below that of a typical Saturday. As residents were notified around 8.45 that the initial warning was sent in error, traffic began to return to normal and Hawaiians collectively breathed a sigh of relief.

“Those seeking further relief, headed back to PornHub where pageviews surged +48 per cent above typical levels at 9.01am.”

Fascinating.

Other tidbits.
Last year, more people voted on PornHub videos than in the United States Presidential election — perhaps not that surprising being as the website attracted 28.5 billion visits overall, or 81 million per day.

A whopping 3732 petabytes of data was streamed, which is enough to fill every last iPhone on earth — that’s a lot of porn!

Most viewers — 67 per cent, in fact — used their smartphones to watch porn in 2017, while just 11 per cent used Internet Explorer.
