I'll be seeing you in all the old familiar places

Robert Kotlowitz in his memoir, Before Their Time, mentions that as they boarded the troop transport taking them to Europe, there was a band playing and Kate Smith was singing such songs as I'll Walk Alone, I'll be Seeing You, and When the Moon Comes Over the Mountain.

To be an eighteen year old crowded into the chaos of a troop transport, getting ready to sail off to a conflict from which you might not return, I can understand that these lyrics might be a small salve.
I'll Be Seeing You

I'll be seeing you
In all the old familiar places
That this heart of mine embraces
All day and through

In that small cafe
The park across the way
The children's carousel
The chestnut trees, the wishing well

I'll be seeing you
In every lovely summer's day
In everything that's light and gay
I'll always think of you that way

I'll find you in the morning sun
And when the night is new
I'll be looking at the moon
But I'll be seeing you

I'll be seeing you
In every lovely summer's day
In everything that's light and gay
I'll always think of you that way

I'll find you in the morning sun
And when the night is new
I'll be looking at the moon
But I'll be seeing you
