Down Yonder Green Valleyby AnonymousDown yonder green valleyWhere streamlets meanderWhere twilight is fading,I pensively roam.Or at the bright noontideIn solitude I wanderAmid the dark shadesOf the lonely Ash Grove'Tis there that the blackbirdsAre cheerfully singingEach warbler enchantsWith his note from the tree'Tis then little think IOf sorrow or sadnessThe Ash Grove entrancing,Spells beauty for me.

This was a song we sang at (1942/45) at Girl Scout Camp, (Camp Scott at Locust Grove, Oklahoma). It reminded me of the woods there, and I particularly loved this peaceful son. 01/2000 VLB
Apparently, Down Yonder Green Valley is a variant (among many) of a Welsh song first published in 1802, The Ash Grove. Camp Scott was a Girl Scout camp.
