I used to get a lot of information from blogs but social media dislodged many of them and others shed away. There are still a good number which I follow but I don't go venturing among blogs as much as I once did. Today I came across one I had not seen in a decade or so, Siris, written by Brandon. Still going strong. It is theologically and philosophically inclined but he is something of a polymath so there is an eclectic mixture of topics.
I like this passage from Praesentia Realis.
I normally wouldn't pay much attention to it [a dispute], as Fr. Reese is famously one of those modern priests who likes talking about how to make theology relevant to the broader culture yet whose shaky grasp of theology is balanced by a nearly non-existent grasp of what is appealing to the broader culture.
I think there are a lot of practicing Christians who are probably feeling that disconnect. Certainly at my church we have a theological dilettante chasing every ideological fancy with no real commitment to the theology, doctrine, sacraments, rites, or ceremonies of the traditional church. He is chasing ideological purity while ignoring theological foundations and also ignoring his vanishing congregation.
