A jewel-embellished bowl given by Ottoman sultun, Abdul Hamid II, to archaeologist and ambassador Sir Austen Henry Layard in 1877. The surface of the Jiaging porcelain bowl (mid 1500s) was chiselled to take Ottoman gold and ruby decoration (1570-1600).
