March 19th is technically the calendar date for the first day of Spring but I know it to be operationally true as well.
Probably hard to see. The Beech leaves having held fast through the fall winds and winter rain storms and the recent high winds have, with the promise of spring sap, released their hold. The beautiful ghosts of this past autumn are now flying away in drifts on the first gentle breezes of spring. To be followed shortly by the first green sheen as trees and plants begin the cycle of renewal with the vestiges of young buds.
