"Waiter," he said loudly, the pig wants to drink."
From
The Encyclopedia of Jewish Humor by Henry D. Spalding.
A Jew and a German occupied the same table in a restaurant. The Jew ordered gefilteh fish and the German ordered pork. Each recognized the origin of the other, and neither uttered a word throughout the meal.
When they had finished eating the Jew decided he would have an after-dinner drink. "Waiter," he called, the fish wants to swim."
The waiter, understanding perfectly, grinned and brought him a jigger of brandy.
But the German was not about to be outclassed by a Jew, although he did admire the other's cleverness. "Waiter," he said loudly, the pig wants to drink."
