Not the same oath

The same oath is not equal for the impious and the pious.

I wonder to what extent the ancient Greeks seem to be exceptionally wise because they were exceptionally wise and how much it depends on the fact that, for many, only fragments have come down to us. Brief aphorisms seem to have much more distilled wisdom than complex arguments.
